7 Things you MUST know about having a Beach Wedding!

The beautiful blue ocean, the gently lapping waves, the sweet salt breeze, what's not to love about planning your wedding on the beach? There are so many great reasons to have a beach wedding, but there are also some factors you may need to think about as well. I am going to give you 7 tips you must know before you say I do.

1. First and foremost! You must think about the weather. Many couples enjoy getting married on the beach when the weather is ideal, but unfortunately at times the weather isn't all it's cracked up to be. Rain, strong winds, fog, and yikes even hurricanes can pop up unpredictably. You may want to think about a back-up plan just in case your location has to change. Possibly renting a tent to keep you and your wedding guests dry or in the shade may also be an option to have on hand.

2. Humidity. Oh yes the wonderful humidity that can make a beautiful hairdo limp or frizzy or cause a professional makeup job to melt might be an issue. Which renting a tent can possibly help with tip number 1 it will also help you here too. Remember to pick your dress accordingly, you definitely don't want to be sweating in that gorgeous gown!

3. Possible Crowds. Maybe that guy in the speedos might decide to stop and gawk at the procession, or some nearby kids are running around playing and making noise. These are possibilities if you are getting married on a public beach. Things that help: Plan your wedding at a time when most crowds will be off the beach. The dinner hour and sunset are great times for less people. Also, if you are an early bird, a sunrise wedding can be breath taking. These times also help you plan a time that the heat of the day is the coolest.

4. Tides. If you are planning your wedding out of town, you may not be familiar with the tide changes. Always ask locally about when high and low tides are. This will help to ensure you from a rogue wave crashing your party. The sound of the waves although endearing, can be a little noisy when you are trying to hear the vows or if you plan on walking to music down the aisle. Which leads to tip number 5.....

5. Make sure you know all the local beach rules when it comes to music, alcohol, or candles, etc. Some towns have strict laws about this so make you sure you find out in advance in case you need to make any changes.

6. Local Ordinances and Permits. Some beaches require a permit to conduct a wedding. So contact the local Chamber of Commerce to find out whether you will need a permit and also what you will need for your marriage license.

7. And last but definitely not least......The unwanted guests that you cannot always bar from the ceremony. I'm talking about bugs! Biting flies, mosquitoes, and gnats can be a nuisance. So remember to bring bug repellant and maybe citronella in case it's needed.

Hopefully if you decide to have a beach wedding these tips will save you a lot of time and irritation. Beach weddings can be beautiful, cost-effective, and romantic especially if you follow the above advice.
Happy Planning!!

Should You Hire a Wedding Coordinator?

So he asked and you said yes! Or if you were like me you uttered a tearful "I'm not wearing waterproof mascara!" But, regardless of your answer, as long as it was some sort of yes, you are starting to feel the enormity of it all.
So you wonder: Should I hire someone to coordinate my wedding? A numerous amount of Brides have pondered this same question. What about you?
In this article I will discuss how hiring a WC (you know, Wedding Coordinator for the benefit of brevity) can save you time, money, and quite possibly a little thing I like to call sanity.

First, STRESS! (Yes this word needs all caps and an exclamation point.) How do you begin to work out all the details while holding down a 9 to 5 job? A WC will meet with prospective vendors and do all the foot work for you. This doesn't mean you lose control of your vision of the perfect wedding, it only means someone else will carry that vision out for you. Nice huh?

Second, MONEY. (No exclamation, just period.) Whether you are a Bride looking to have the biggest bash in town or are looking to have a more budget friendly wedding, a coordinator is the way to go. You may think you will save money by doing it all yourself, or having Aunt Sarah take over this elite duty. But, you can actually save money by hiring a WC to find you the best deals and discounts from top professionals.

Third, TIME. You work, you plan, you may even want to enjoy yourself during this hectic time. ( Crazy, I know) By hiring a WC, your time will be better spent with your sweetheart instead of stressing about whether you need to call the Caterer. This is an important time in your life, the engagement moves quickly so enjoy it while you can.

And fourth, the dreaded Wedding MISHAPS. (Gasp here) Yes, it happens. I won't lie, it can even happen a lot. The Cake toppled onto Grandma Lorraine, or the flower girl is refusing to walk down the aisle with ewww an icky boy. These things will happen. But, if you hired a WC, these problems won't affect you. The Coordinators job is to see to it that your wedding day goes off flawlessly without a hitch. (well at least one hitch I hope)

Regardless of your decision, your wedding will all come together. But, by hiring a Wedding Coordinator it may just come together a little more smoothly.
